WHAT IS AN LED WATCH?
The LED display watch was the first type of digital watch, previously to
this all watches were 'analogue' (having hands or mechanical clockwork
parts) Digital watches with the LED display were invented towards the
end of the 1960's and introduced as a high end modern timepiece by the
Hamilton watch company under the brand name "Pulsar" in 1973. When they
were first available, LED watches were extremely expensive, from several
hundred to thousands of dollars. They were made popular by appearances
in moves such as James Bond's "Live and Let Die" and grew in popularity
after many companies in Asia began to introduce cheaper models,
eventually causing the demise of the Pulsar brand until it was later
introduced as a non-LED brand by Seiko. LED watches have an instantly
recognisable bright red self illuminating display (usually red) and
remain lit to display the time for as long as a button is depressed
(they actually remain illuminated for a few seconds after the button is
released). The inside works are known as LED watch modules and the
display depends on the quality of the module. The LED watch is an icon
of the 70's, much like the Lava Lite or Fibre Optic lamp, it's a fashion
statement of a bygone technologically innocent space age era. An LED
watch always gets noticed, wear one and everyone will ask "where did you
get that!" They are super cool and just about as retro 70's as you can
get!

Quite simply, the technical
specification making our watches absolutely true and authentic to the
origial type of display - We are the only company to specialise in this
- Our watches feature the identical display technology to the type used
in the original 70s LED watches, it is called a wire bonded seven
segment LED display and looks sharper and far higher quality than any
other kind of modern LED display that attempts to copy the style
(usually they are backlit displays resulting in uneven or blurry
numbers). There is nothing to compare to this original type of display,
it is absolutely spectacular and totally authentic, in fact (thanks to
modern technological improvements) we have even increased the
brightness, battery life and reliability compared to the vinatge LED
watches whilst faithfully retaining the same look and feel.
WHY ARE THEY DIFFICULT TO GET?
Because they have not been readily available since the end of the
1970's, since then only a few manufacturers have produced LED watches,
making them extremely rare. We offer a range of superb models featuring
an advanced and totally authentic wire bonded seven segment LED digital
display, the same type of technology used on the display of the LED
watches in the 1970's and rarely seen since. We also love LCD Dot Matrix
display watches and offer great new models in a choice of silver
grey or solid black.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO LED WATCHES?
At the end of the 1970's Seiko introduced LCD digital watches and the
new technology became an instant hit making LED watches extinct almost
overnight. Since their demise in the late 70's LED watch models have
been very few and far between, they are now extremely rare with only a
handful of manufacturers offering LED models of any decent quality. The
last LED watches that we could find were available in the late 90's. We
are proud to be able to offer genuine, LED display watches, the real
thing, totally authentic and spectacular in a choice of two models each
with different features.
ARE YOUR WATCHES EXCLUSIVE?
These watches are built to our exact specifications under the CONNECT
brand name and are only available on this website, via our eBay store
and a handful of carefully chosen resellers.
ARE THESE NEW OR OLD?
These are brand new watches manufactured using latest generation LED
watch modules originally based on 70's technology, now these new modules
offer the same fantastic looking LED illuminated display but with better
performance. The units are completely brand new technology, body type
and design but offering the great authentic 70's style - there is
nothing like a genuine LED digital watch display and these are superb
units with a heavy quality feel.
WHAT ABOUT BATTERY LIFE AND REPLACEMENT?
In normal use batteries last approx 12 months, the modules offer much
better battery life performance than the old 70's types. Depending on
the model the watch case opens in different ways, most of our models
feature a snap on water resistant stainless steel back that can be
carefully opened using a blunt knife, the battery replaced and then the
back snapped close again, if you have experience with this kind of thing
then It is possible to do this yourself but we usually recommend a watch
service centre for delicate work. The batteries are excellent long life
type (for example the TX4b/SPACE/XRAY takes the high powered CR2032
battery which is commonly available and is more than double the capacity
of regular watch batteries but still easy to replace and costs less than
$5). New batteries are included with the watch, so the watch is shipped
ready to use, you only have to set your local time. Instructions are
included.
HOW DO THEY WORK?
To display the time simply push the time button on the right side of the
watch body and it will clearly light up for as long as the button is
pushed then remain lit for a few seconds, the same for the date, press
the date button. There is another recessed button used for setting the
time and date.
HOW DO I ORDER?

watch you have chosen, you can increase the quantity, add another watch

CAN I PAY IN US DOLLARS OR EUROS?
Absolutely, our website displays prices and accepts payment in UK Pounds
(default), US Dollars and Euros, to change the view and currency simply
click the flag at the top of each page. If you would like to pay in
another currency (Australian Dollars or Japanese Yen) then simply
complete the payment in US Dollars and it will be converted to your
local currency on your credit card statement.
I DON'T HAVE A CREDIT CARD, CAN I STILL ORDER?
We are primarily a credit card payment based mail order company, If you
are located in the UK we can accept a UK Pound personal cheque (please
email us to arrange this) but that's about it, sorry. Also, we have
found Paypal to be very flexible and within the system, Paypal offers
several ways of adding money to your account and paying online, for
example If you wish to pay by withdrawing the money directly from your
bank account then this is also possible within the Paypal payment system.
WHAT IS YOUR SHIPPING POLICY?
Shipping is free! We endeavour to ship all orders within 24 hours (or 1
business day) to any address worldwide (unless they are included in our
non acceptable country list below) at no cost to you, once again: WE PAY
THE SHIPPING! We use Royal Mail and which service depends on your
location, UK orders will be shipped by first class post and
international orders will always be shipped by air mail, never surface,
so you receive your item as fast as we can get it to you.
DO YOU EXCLUDE ANY COUNTRIES?
Sorry, yes we regret we are unable to accept orders from the following
countries and if we receive an order from any of them it will
immediately be cancelled:

Also in our experience post to Italy, Spain, Mexico, Argentina and
Brazil is slow and unreliable so we can ship to these countries but not
send replacement watches if the local postal service then fails to
deliver to the address you specify.
PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR WARRANTY POLICY
If any problem develops with your watch case, strap or module during the
first 12 months due to manufacturing defect we will repair or replace
your watch without quibble. All sales are final but If the watch has
been damaged due to mistreatment, water (they are splash resistant, not
guaranteed as waterproof or suitable for diving) shock or accident we
will still do our best to solve the problem but it may be a chargeable
repair, sorry the battery is not included in the warranty however they
are an easily available low cost battery that can easily be replaced by
simply opening the back of the watch, we suggest this is performed by a
jeweller or watch repair shop so that out of warranty damage does not
occur during battery replacement (please see above).

PACKAGING: Your watch will be securely placed inside the metal box with
foam, warranty and instructions then placed inside a clear plastic wrap,
then a white cardboard sleeve placed around it and then carefully packed
into an industrial grade padded envelope secured by staples which will
then be stickered with your supplied address and correct postage from
our UK Location to your supplied address and if outside the EU, customs
declaration.
